Following its initial success, chief minister Devendra Fadnavis’ office will once again offer fellowship to 50 graduates who are enthusiastic to understand the government functioning and want to be part of it. Youngsters between the age group of 22 and 26 years can apply for the fellowship, and they will get a chance to work on the various government projects, data collection and analysis.
The general administration department has come up with a government resolution (GR) giving terms and conditions for the fellowship. “The youth should have basic qualification of degree from any stream and computer knowledge. They will get training for seven days from Yashada, the government institute and can choose an area of their liking. The selected candidates will get a fellowship of Rs 35,000 and additional Rs 5,000 as travelling allowance per month,” the GR said. The fellowship is meant for 11 months only.
The youngsters are expected to work for programmes such drought-free state, incomplete irrigation projects, infrastructure, roads, tourism development, environment, conservation of forests, railway projects related to the state, developing water transport, implementation of forest rights act, climate change, tree plantations etc, the GR said.
The government will conduct a written test followed by an interview after which the candidate will get elected. “Last year, we received a good response for the fellowship programme and lot of good young minds worked with us. This time also, we are expecting that the talented youngsters should come forward and bring new ideas to the government. The fellowship will also give them first-hand experience of working with the system and they can learn about the government functioning,” an official from the CMO said.
Last year, students from prestigious IIT, VJTI, NIT had applied for the fellowship programme and had a good experience, the official added.
