This slot was reserved for hearing suggestions and objections received from eight government agencies, including the Airports Authority of India, Mumbai Port Trust, public works department (PWD), central public works department and Hindustan Petroleum (HP).
The leader of the BJP in the BMC, Manoj Kotak, who is part of the panel, said the team heard over 500 responses from government agencies on Monday, and is considering which ones are to be included in the DP. He said, “The suggestions were mainly technical, regarding certain changes in the markings on the DP. Based on their viability, we will decide whether to include them in the final DP or not.”
A civic official from the DP department, who was also present at the hearing, said, “All suggestions pertained to the businesses of these government agencies.” For example, the PWD requested the BMC to mark its area in the eastern suburbs as ‘commercial (office spaces)+residential’, instead of the present category of only ‘residential’.
Similarly, HP requested the BMC to mark all of its petrol pumps on the DP maps. The official said, “We had marked some petrol pumps that were already marked in the 1991 DP. We did not change any markings. HP asked us to mark all petrol pumps that have come up after 1991 as well.”
