‘City’s Make in India crucial’
Stating that the world has now started to recognise India as a trusted investment destination, chief minister Devendra Fadnavis said the ‘Make in India’ week will be the crux of various programmes conducted by the World Economic Forum.
The Make in India week will be jointly organised by the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP), ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India and Maharashtra government in Mumbai from February 13-18. Prime minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the week on
February 13.“What is India’s true strength Modiji has asked the world to come and invest in India. And the Make in India week that is being organised for the first time in the city is part of Modiji’s vision,” Mr Fadnavis said while addressing a gathering at Sahyadri on Friday.
“Though Mumbai is an international city, most of the iconic programmes of the World Economic Forum are held at places such as Davos and Hannover. The programme, which will be held here under the theme of innovation, design and sustainability will be the crux of all the WEF programmes,” he said.
Mr Fadnavis said that economies of countries such as China and Japan are not in a good shape and thus the world recognises India as a trusted investment destination.
The chief minister further said that delegates, political heads representing various countries would take part in the event.
“This is like a festival for us and we have to celebrate it. Unless all stakeholders come together and work, we will not get the desired results,” Mr Fadnavis said.
“We can become the manufacturing hub of the world. Through this programme, we are inviting the world to join us and be part of India’s growth story,” he further added.
