Chargesheet filed against disgraced PWD engineer
A 2,000-page chargesheet has been filed against disgraced former PWD executive engineer Satish Madhukar Chikhalikar, his wife and others in the Nashik court. Sources from the anti-corruption bureau (ACB) said that Chikhalikar has amassed property worth Rs 14.66 crore He was arrested on May 28, 2013 by the ACB while accepting a bribe of Rs 22,000 from a contractor.
The sources further said that during Chikhalikar’s tenure in government service from September 1, 1989 to April 30, 2013, he had amassed 383 per cent more property than his known sources of income. The amount amassed during this tenure was estimated to be Rs 13.9 crore. Cases under various laws have been registered in the Sarkarwada police station.
Chikhalikar, a north division Class I executive engineer from the public works department (PWD), was arrested for demanding Rs 22,000 from the complainant who was requesting for his bills which amounted to Rs 3.86 lakh. The accused demanded bribe at the rate of six per cent which came to Rs 22,000 and accepted the bribe through PWD section engineer Jagdish Magan Wagh in April 2013. Both were arrested and their houses and properties raided by the ACB.
So far Chikhalikar’s assets amount to Rs 14 crores and section engineer Jagdish Magan Wagh’s properties amount to Rs 47 lakh.
ACB had also raided the house of Wagh and recovered cash worth Rs 35,000, 11 tolas gold and property documents. The raids were conducted by superintendent of police (ACB) Dr Sashikant Mahavarkar along with deputy S.P. Shaligram Patil.
In April this year, another executive engineer of Nashik PWD was caught ACB while accepting a bribe of Rs 1 lakh from a contractor.
ACB raided executive engineer Sanjay Dagadu Dashpute’s house, broke his bank lockers and confiscated cash, bank deposits, gold and silver amounting to over Rs 37 lakh excluding five plots and flats and vehicles.
