The Central Railway (CR) will not be able to keep its promise of running the air-conditioned train by May 15.
The Central Railway (CR) will not be able to keep its promise of running the air-conditioned train by May 15.
General manager Sunil Kumar Sood has said that a certain part of the rolling stock is yet to arrive and the current testing of the train has not been as quick as they expected and hence, they would not be able to stick to the deadline.
Union minister Suresh Prabhu and chief minister Devendra Fadnavis had during a press conference on April 21 announced May 15 as the day when the air-conditioned train would be rolled out.
Speaking about the reason for the delay, Mr Sood said that a part of the train, called rollers, is yet to arrive from the Integral Coach Factory (ICF).
“The rollers are yet to come from Chennai. They will be needed later when the train has to undergo the dynamic test. It is still undergoing the static test,” he said.
The static tests involve the checking of the software of the train like opening and shutting of the door, which is currently a little off. “The software is not perfect at the moment. Things like the opening and shutting of the doors on time and other important factors are being looked into right now,” Mr Sood further added.
A team of officials from Belgium have come down to solve the problems related to software and others and in order to expedite the process.
