Bus driver rams into motorbike, kills rider
The Chembur police has arrested the private bus driver, who rammed into a motorcycle, killing the 15-year-old pillion rider on the spot and injuring the rider.
The Chembur police has arrested the private bus driver, who rammed into a motorcycle, killing the 15-year-old pillion rider on the spot and injuring the rider. The deceased pillion rider has been identified as Nilesh Santosh Vare, a resident of Trombay and a school student while the bike rider has been identified as Pramod Pagare (32)
The incident occurred around 11.30 pm on Wednesday when Nilesh, his four brothers and two friends had come to celebrate the birthday of their newly-married sister at Siddharth Colony, Chembur. Nilesh’s cousin brother, Pawan Shelke, told the police that after celebrating the birthday, the four left Siddharth Colony. Pawan and his friend rode a Pulsar bike, while Nilesh and Pramod rode a Honda Dio.
Pawan said, “We were crossing the road near Swastik Marg petrol pump to fill petrol in our bikes. I was ahead while Nilesh and Pramod were behind. Suddenly, I heard a loud sound and when I turned around, Nilesh and Pramod were lying on the road. The left side tyre of the private bus had run over Nilesh’s neck while Pramod was lying on the other side. Nilesh was taken to the Shatabdi Hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival while Pramod was taken to Rajawadi Hospital.”
The bus driver has been arrested for rash and negligent driving, causing death of a youth.
