Builder suicide: Hunt on for 3

The Thane police is searching for three persons in connection with builder Suraj Parmar’s suicide case.

The Thane police is searching for three persons in connection with builder Suraj Parmar’s suicide case. According to sources, the Thane police has got more leads in the case, and it will soon arrest more people for their alleged role in abetment of suicide.

The Thane police has already started its investigation against those who harassed Parmar. Sources said, “Police officials have taken down their bank details and are checking their activities. They received this lead after investigating a few witnesses. These people have been harassing other builders besides Parmar as well.”

“These three officials were involved in sanctioning projects and they supported the ‘golden gang’ by approving or rejecting projects,” added sources.

Parmar, in his suicide note, had written that there were some officials from the Thane municipal commissioner office who were creating problems in his projects. Still, no one has been arrested from the Thane Municipal Corporation, and this point was argued during the remand application for four corporators in the sessions court. However, police officials say that they are still working on the case and are finding details about other people.

An official said, “We can’t reveal the name of persons against whom we are carrying out the probe. All we can say is we are on track and there is a possibility of few more arrests.”

On the other hand, politicians say that the matter is a political vendetta as the four corporators who have been arrested are not from the ruling party.

On December 14, the sessions court in Thane on Monday refused to extend the police custody of the four corporators in the case after the police failed to show any progress in the investigation. These corporators were arrested after FSL report of Parmar’s suicide note was out. Parmar, president of the Thane unit of builders’ body Maharashtra Chamber of Housing Industry, committed suicide October 2015.
