Boy drowns in pool, resort booked for negligence

The Arnala police of Virar area registered a case of negligence against a local resort on Monday following the death of a six-year-old boy by drowning, the police said.

According to police sources, the incident took place on Sunday, after which a preliminary police inquiry revealed the resort allegedly did not take enough safety and security measures for guests. While further police investigation is on, no arrests have been made in the case.

Nizamuddin Sheikh, a resident of Nargis Dutt Nagar of Bandra, had gone to Palm Beach resort with his wife and three children. The resort is located near the sea shore and around two pm on Sunday, Ayan (6) after finishing his food informed his two sisters that he was going out to play. However, Ayan later went missing, following which his family started searching for him. During the search Ayan’s body was found lying in the swimming pool. Ayan was rushed to a local hospital where doctors pronounced him dead. Ayan was a student of class 1.

Confirming this, an official from Arnala said that being a Sunday, the resort was over-crowded, and there were no lifeguards deployed, which is a case of negligence on the part of the resort.
