The Bombay high court, which has reserved its order on the appeal filed by Bollywood star Salman Khan against his conviction in the 2002 hit-and-run case, is expected to deliver its judgment on the appeal this week itself.

Justice A.R. Joshi had informed the lawyers representing Salman Khan and the state government that he would start dictating the order from Monday. The judge is expected to complete dictating the order this week.

The prosecution case is that Salman had consumed liquor at ‘Rain Bar and Restaurant’ in Vile Parle before ramming his Toyota Land Cruiser car into a shop at suburban Bandra on September 28, 2002. One person died in the mishap and four others were injured.

The actor has contended that neither was he drunk nor was he driving the car. His family driver Ashok Singh had deposed before the court as a defence witness and had claimed that he and not Salman was driving the car when it met with an accident. He had also told the court that the accident was a result of a technical glitch as the road was under repair and not due to any negligence.
