BMC officials have a field day even as citizens face craters on roads

While the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) failed to meet its deadline to fix potholes on roads across Mumbai, its officials at G (North) ward in Dadar were seen playing cricket at the Antonio D’Silva School playground during duty hours on Monday. However, in defence of their action, the ward officials claimed that before stepping out of the office to play cricket, they had ensured all the pending work was complete.

The ward office was vacant from 12 pm to 3 pm. The assistant municipal commissioner of the ward, Ramakant Biradar, said, “We did not abandon our work for leisure. We were playing during the one-hour lunch break (1 pm to 2 pm).”
