In a Halla Bol (attack) rally organised by the Nationalist Congress Party at Worli on Saturday, party chief Sharad Pawar did not attack the Devendra Fadnavis-led BJP government at the state claiming it did nothing during the past one year that can be attacked by the NCP. However, he said that the BJP government has no right to stay in the power.
Mr Pawar criticised BJP governments both at the Centre and in the state for issues ranging from price rise to law and order. Farmers, labourers have suffered because of this government, he said.
People need to decide till when they should tolerate the government, he added. The communal elements who are spreading hatred in our otherwise harmonious society have gained power as the government is backing them, he said.
“The BJP had promised many things to come to power, but they haven’t been able to fulfil even basic promise like taming down inflation. In fact, inflation has constantly risen over the past one year, due to the wrong policies of the BJP government,” he said and added that the traders from pulses association told him that huge stocks of imported pulses are lying idle at JNPT because of the government’s wrong policies. The government wants the traders who helped them during elections to benefit more, Mr Pawar alleged.
Mr Pawar alleged that the government had failed to provide relief to farmers and common man even as the state faces severe drought. “Also, the law and order situation is at its worst in the state and even worse in Nagpur, the CM’s hometown,” he said.
