In a direct attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi over violence in his hometown, the Shiv Sena through editorial in Saamana said the ongoing incidents in Gujarat and the BJP’s eagerness to talk to those favouring Pakistan to form a government in Jammu and Kashmir signal unstable governance.
“While PM Modi roams the world as a mascot of peace, his own Gujarat burns. What is on the minds of people is being seen in Gujarat. If the police in various parts of the country has to maintain peace keeping a gun in their hands, it is not a sign of stable governance,” the Sena said, in an editorial in party mouthpiece Saamana. It said “while Naxalites have wreaked havoc in Chhattisgarh, peace and governance is being destroyed in Jammu and Kashmir and anti-nationals are having a gala time there”.
It added that, on the one hand, the BJP says those who do not chant pro-India slogans have no right to stay in the country and on the other, it became a part of the government that consists of people who refuse to chant ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’.
“Hardik Patel fanned violence in the name of reservation. Thus, action can be taken against him. But, is it right to slap false charges of being an anti-national and send him to jail ” it questioned. “The BJP high command talks to those who favour Pakistan to form a government in Jammu and Kashmir, but has an ego problem to talk to our own people in Gujarat,” the Sena said.
It further said the prevalent fire in the minds of people won’t be doused by mere assurances and that the youth, who were uptil now favouring Mr Modi, have now come out on the streets against him. “People like Hardik Patel and Kanhaiya Kumar have posed a challenge. You (the BJP) need to sit down calmly and find a solution while keeping your ego aside,” the Sena said.
