BJP-backed union calls for taxi strike on August 29

The Jai Bhagwan Taxi and Rickshaw Sanghathna (JBTRS) backed by the BJP and Shiv Sena has declared an indefinite taxi and autorickshaw strike on August 29, the same day as Nitesh Rane’s Swabhiman Sanga

The Jai Bhagwan Taxi and Rickshaw Sanghathna (JBTRS) backed by the BJP and Shiv Sena has declared an indefinite taxi and autorickshaw strike on August 29, the same day as Nitesh Rane’s Swabhiman Sangathna, making availability of both modes of transport difficult on the day.

The JBTRS has gained popularity among taxi/autorickshaw driver after the more bigger and popular unions like the Mumbai Taximens Union headed by A.L. Quadros and the Mumbai Rickshaw and Taximen Union now headed by union leader Shashank Rao are being regarded as being unsuccessful in reining in private/radio taxis.

JBRTS had already recalled a strike early in August after its representatives met with chief minister Devandra Fadnavis and transport minister Diwakar Raote. However, the Union’s head, Balasaheb Sanap said they would not back down this time.
