Biker arrested for injuring traffic officer in Matunga

A biker has been arrested for hitting a traffic police officer on Saturday night in Matunga’s Char Rasta area. The officer, who was seriously injured, has been admitted at Sion Hospital.

Nitin Parab (52) was on duty near Matunga traffic division and was crossing the road to conduct the traffic on the other side when accused biker Vinod Kadlag (24) could not control his speed and hit Parab around 9.30 pm.

According to police officers, a few onlookers and other police officers nabbed the biker whose bike skid after he hit Parab. Kadlag is a resident of Antop Hill and was travelling towards Sion.

The onlookers said that they saw a bike speeding towards Parab who was crossing the road on Char Rasta. When they tried to flag down the biker, the rider could not control the bike’s speed and before Parab could move out of his way, he was hit by the bike.

“We are interrogating the accused and a medical test has been conducted on him. We have registered a compliant against the accused and arrested him,” said senior police inspector B. Kakad from Matunga police station.

Parab has suffered fractures on his hand and legs. He also received injuries on his head. One of the injured officer’s relatives said, “The doctor said that Parab’s condition is serious. The culprit must be severely punished. He should not get out of the jail like Salman.”
