The Brihanmumbai Electric Supply & Transport (BEST) on Thursday launched its Facebook page which the commuters may use to post selfies to highlight issues, like posing with a torn seat, etc, to address the issue.

Although the BEST has maintained the page will be only to give out information and that complaints will be taken on their dedicated helpline number, the page developer of the social website said, “Right now if anyone has any issue either they post the picture of only the issue or a selfie where the problem and their face is registered too.” Committee members like Kedar Hombalkar too said that once the page is “out there”, the 30 lakh-odd commuters and the 10 lakh power consumers will have a tendency to post their grievances on the page. “We need to accept that people will put up issues that they might be facing,” he said.

When committee members asked general manager Jagdish Patil how the issues will be tackled, he said, “We have to yet finalise the time frame in which a person will be given a response to a grievance.”
