Mr Prakash Balbudhe, a former sales tax official, who was described as a close associate of Maharashtra BJP president Raosaheb Danve (Danve says tainted Balbudhe not his PA, but close associate, Sept 26) has strongly refuted all allegations made against him. Mr Balbudhe stated that he was one of the most competent officers of his department and during his service tenure his ACR were always marked as A and A+ which denoted an outstanding service record.

He added that he had led a blotless service life in the state of Maharashtra. Because of his outstanding service record, he was rewarded with an advance increment and a promotion too, he added.

He was never involved in any scam and no FIR was filed against him during his service or till date. He was never implicated as an accused for any offence in his lifetime and was never implicated and punished by any court of law in any scam during his lifetime, the former official asserted. He had never issued any documents in the names of bogus companies. Nor had he ever been suspended, he stated.

Mr Balbudhe had taken voluntary retirement from his job as per service rules. He had not committed any offence in the naptha dealer case, nor been punished under Maharashtra Civil Services Rules till retirement. On the contrary, he had been rewarded with an advance increment and promotion, he claimed, adding, -"It appears that you have relied upon a fake source-".The Asian Age apologises for the factual errors in the original article, and any inadvertent distress it may have caused Mr Balbudhe.
