Roshan Sawant (25) committed suicide in Dahisar after being told by his girlfriend, who is in the midst of a legal battle for divorce, that he would have to wait to get married to her. the police has registered an accidental case and further investigation is on.
Sources from Dahisar police station said that Mr Sawant was a resident of Virar and was staying in a rented flat in Dahisar, where he hanged himself after being told to wait by his girlfriend. Preliminary inquiry has revealed that Mr Sawant, a hospital staff at Kokilaben Hospital, Andheri, fell in love with a 24-year-old woman working there. The 24-year-old happened to be the mother of a six-year-old girl, staying in Marve with her mother while her husband, with whom she is fighting a legal battle for divorce, stays in Konkan, Maharashtra.
A police official told The Asian Age that the woman had left her job and was now working in a local shop in Marve. Mr Sawant was in a relationship with the woman for a long time and would often ask her to marry him but every time, she told him to be patient and wait until her divorce, which led to fights between them. Mr Sawant started believing that the divorce was just an excuse to avoid his marriage proposal which is why, he rented a flat in Dahisar where he would call the woman to meet him and both would spend time together.
On December 31, they planned to spend New Year’s Eve together so they met in Andheri where, once again a fight occurred over the proposal. In the course of the argument, the woman told Mr Sawant to wait until her divorce and stay in Virar with his family instead of staying in Dahisar.Thursday late night, the woman called Mr Sawant to know where he was, to which, he replied that he had got down at Vasai instead of going to his Virar house.
The woman got worried and decided to visit his Dahisar house. Upon reaching the place, she found the door locked from inside, so she tried to look inside from the window only to find Mr Sawant hanging from the roof. Later, the police wasinformed.
