Andheri studio of Malala’s biopic writer burgled
The police is on the lookout for a gang of burglars who broke into the studio of scriptwriter and artist Bhaswati Chakrabarty. The writer is currently working on a biopic based on 18-year-old Malala Yousafzai, Pakistan-based female education activist.
According to the police, the writer , who has a studio located in Andheri was out of town when the incident occurred. “On March 31, the victim’s mother who stays nearby noticed that the studio had been broken into and the place burgled. She then approached the police station to register an FIR,” said an officer of the Amboli police station.
The police said the artiste has reported various recording and sound equipment kept in the studio as stolen.
“One projector, two laptops, 12 hard-disks, two editing machines and other equipment used in film-making worth over two lakh rupees have been burgled from the studio premises,” said an officer.
Police officials who are scanning through the CCTV footage of the area say that it could two-three people who burgled the place. “We have registered an FIR against unknown persons and are investigating the case,” said an officer. Officers added that the burglars broke in from the front door and ransacked the place. They are also looking for witnesses who may have spotted the burglars entering or leaving.
The writer is writing the script for Gul Makai — the nickname for Malala — which is being direced by Amjad Khan.
It is not yet known whether any material related to the film was stolen. The writer was unavailable for comment.
