Film and television actor Sachin Pilgaonkar and his actor wife Supriya were allegedly duped of Rs 35 lakh by a 28-year-old Pune-based woman. The woman had promised the couple a BMW car at a lower price than the market rate but after extracting money from them, she fled the city.
According to police official, Sachin Pilgaonkar claims that he first met Anagha Borikar in Panchgani at a sports event, where he was invited as the chief guest. Borikar told him that she was a fan of his work and informed him about all her business activities. She also told him that was involved in car dealing knew the best dealers who would sell fancy brand cars at a lower price.
Later Borikar took a cheque from Sachin worth Rs 2 lakh in the name of one BMW shop in Mumbai. “She submitted the cheque to the shop owner and asked him to give a car for test drive. During Diwali, the shop owner from Mumbai then sent the car for a test drive, but Sachin thought the brand new car had been sent by Borikar. He then paid the remaining Rs 35 lakh to her. After two days, the BMW shop workers came to collect the car from him when he realised that he had been cheated,” said a police official
The accused Borikar is married to a Nagpur businessman, but lives in Pune following their divorce four months ago. The police has sent a letter to her summoning her for investigation. Senior police official said, “Borikar had applied for anticipatory bail but the session court rejected her application on November 26. She is absconding now. The Rs 35 lakh has vanished from Borikar’s account.”
