Action to be taken on former bank directors

The state government announced that action will be taken against former directors of the Maharashtra State Cooperative (MSC) Bank, including former deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar and senior NCP leader Jayant Patil for their involvement in the Rs 1,088 crore scam.

Minister for cooperation Chandrakant Patil said in the Assembly that the procedure to fix responsibility for recovery of amount will be completed before May 22, 2016.

Meanwhile, the minister also warned that he will cancel permission for sugarcane crushing given to sugar mills that have not disbursed the first installment of FRP to farmers.

BJP legislator Anil Gote raised the question of corruption in MSC bank through calling attention, and demanded to know what action will be taken against directors involved in corruption. He demanded that the cooperation minister reveal the names of the errant directors.

In his reply, the minister gave the names of 77 directors against whom, inquiry was conducted and they were proven guilty of corruption to the tune of Rs1,088 crore.
