In a shocking incident, an accused in a murder case on Tuesday hurled a sandal at a sessions court judge because he was frustrated with his judicial custody being extended. After February 10, this is the second such instance this month where an accused has thrown his shoe at the sessions judge.
Police officials said that the accused, Mubarak Momin Khan, arrested along with four associates at Powai police station CR number 629/14 under sections 302, 307, 303, 364, 143, 144, 147, 148, 201 and 120(B) of the IPC, was produced before the sessions court room number 29 at about 12.15pm on Tuesday for extension of his judicial custody.
After entering the court, suddenly, the accused hurled his sandal at the judge which hit the table and fell down near the judge’s chair. When the sandal missed its mark, the accused started abusing the judge till the escorting officers forcefully took him away.
The Colaba police took the accused into custody and booked him under various relevant sections of the IPC.
A similar incident occurred on the afternoon of February 10, when the accused, Madan Govind Chouhan, presented in court for a hearing in a robbery case registered against him by RCF police in 2013, suddenly threw his chappal at the judge.
