984 graduates, 5 Mphil holders apply for porter posts

Around 984 graduates and five MPhil degree holders have applied for the ‘hamal’ (porter) posts in the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC).

Around 984 graduates and five MPhil degree holders have applied for the ‘hamal’ (porter) posts in the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC).

Despite the minimum educational qualification for the post being just fourth standard pass, the MPSC has received 2,424 applications from five MPhil holders and 253 with PG degree graduates.

“The exam for the post will be held in August where 984 applicants are graduates, 605 HSC (class 12), 282 SSC (class 10) pass candidates, and 177 below SSC qualifications,” said Rajendra Mangrulkar, secretary, MPSC.

The 100-mark written examination will be conducted where tests on subjects like language skills, mathematics skills, and intelligence test, and general knowledge will be examined.

The candidates who will clear the exam will be called for a personal interview (PI) and if they clear it, they will be recruited for the post.

The MPSC had advertised for these posts in December 2015. The age limit for it is 18-33 years.
