The fourth man from Malwani suspected to have joined ISIS, has returned to the city. Noor Mohammad Sheikh left the city on December 16 when Mohsin and Wazid left. He told his family and friends before leaving that he had landed a good job in Saudi Arabia.
On Thursday, The Asian Age approached Sheikh’s wife, Rahimunissa Sheikh (28), who seemed happy to have her husband return. “For the past 15 days, I was very scared thinking that he is in some problem,” said Rahimunissa, who got married to Sheikh, a daily wage labourer, nearly ten years ago and bore him two children. “Sheikh returned this morning but later, the ATS took him with them for inquiry. Since he was missing, I was just praying to Allah for his safe return and today too, I’m begging god for mercy. I hope ATS will leave him and he will come back to us,” said Rahimunissa. She revealed that her husband had planned to leave home several days ago and got in touch with the other men who are still missing 15 days ago when they decided to leave the city.
The day after December 16 when Sheikh left home, he called his wife to say he is missing his children but someone snatched the phone from him and disconnected the call, according to Rahimunissa. Sheikh started missing his family terribly and decided to leave the company of the others and escaped. “Earlier, he was travelling with those boys but when he started missing us, he escaped,” she said.
According to her, Sheikh moved to Gulbarga to his in-laws’ place and started staying there but after he learnt from television reports that ATS is searching for him, he decided to return to the city. “The way TV reports were appearing, I was very frightened, and was just constantly praying for his safety. He is a family man and I can’t imagine that he can leave us. Our whole family depends on him as he is the only earning member and I never thought he would leave us,” she said.
