The Social Service Branch (SSB) has rescued three girls, including a minor, from a sex racket being operated in a spa in Andheri. The officials have also arrested the woman who ran the spa centre.
According to officials, the SSB received a tip that the Clean Beauty and Spa was a front for a prostitution business and many minors were being employed. On Friday, the police laid a trap by sending a dummy customer to the spa located near Swadeshi hotel in Andheri (west). “When our person went inside and inquired, he was told that he would have to pay Rs 5,000 for adults and Rs 8,000 for minor girls. He agreed to pay and promptly called us and we raided the place,” said an SS Branch officer.
Sources inform that all the girls hailed from Kolkata in West Bengal. They were brought here after being lured into lucrative jobs at the spa centre. “The woman and husband were both involved in it. After the raid, the husband managed to escape,” said an officer.
The DN Nagar police has registered a case under relevant sections of the PITA Act and booked her under sections of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
