3 hospitals, institutions soon: Vinod Tawde
To meet the demand for public private partnership hospitals and medical education institutions in the state, the state education minister Vinod Tawde on Friday announced that soon three medical institutions and public private partnership hospitals would be set up. The three areas selected for it are in BPT (Bombay Port Trust), JNPT (Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust) and ONGC (Oil Natural Gas Cooperation).
According to the minister, “There is scarcity of hospitals and medical institutions and that’s the reason it’s a need for the government hospitals, with public private partnership, to enhance medical installation and people can get better medical facilities with appropriate care.”
“Mumbai despite being the economic capital still lacks in public medical health care at government-run hospitals. We need a medical college with proper post graduation courses, therefore my suggestion is to approve public private partnership hospitals,” he added.
ONGC is ready to give the place for the construction of the hospital in Mumbai and BPT is ready for two hospitals, one is at Wadala and another one is at Raigad. “I would insist that business tycoons like Tata and Ambani adopt the hospitals. Colleges should be run by private sectors on government fee structures. All these things should be fair and thoroughly run in a genuine way,” he added.
