3 dead, 4 injured in Nashik accident
Three persons, including two women from Thane, were killed and four others hurt when their pickup van collided with a truck in the Sinnar tehsil of Nashik early Sunday morning.
The police said that the accident occurred in Pangri village near Wavi town around 12.30 am. The passengers in the van no. MH04-JR-9122 were going towards Shirdi while the truck no. MH20-AT-8634 was going towards Mumbai. The police has identified the deceased as Dnyaneshwar Namdeo Thakre (30) and his wife Neha (27), residents of Koshambi village of Bhivandi tehsil in Thane district. The third deceased was identified as Yogita Santosh Choudhary (25), a resident of Atgaon in Shahapur tehsil of Thane district.
The truck driver Karan Prakash Deore from Ranjangaon in Aurangabad has been taken into custody. The driver of the pickup van, whose name could not be verified, was also injured. The names of the injured persons were given as Ajay Ram Sapat, Ram Ganpat Sapat, Anil Baban Palve and Jyotsna Anil Palve, all residents of Koshambi village.
The police has registered an accident case with the Wavi police station and the injured have been admitted to Sinnar Hospital. Further investigations into the accident are being conducted by PSI P.J. Sayyed, the police said.
