A 27-year-old woman hung herself to death with her dupatta early on Saturday morning. The Tulinj police has registered a case and the body was sent for an autopsy on Saturday afternoon after a punchnama was done. According to police sources, she was betrayed in a relationship. The incident took place in the Shalibhadra building on the East Link Road in Nalasopara, which is under the jurisdiction of the Tulinj police. The deceased, Swati Pannalal Shrivas, (27) was residing in flat 102 of the B wing in the building with her family.
According to police sources, a preliminary inquiry has revealed that Shrivas had loved a boy, who a few months ago tied the knot with another woman. After this, she tried to contact him several times, but he avoided her. This depressed Shrivas and led her to take her own life.
According to police sources, Shrivas’ family had no idea that she had planned to take the extreme step, as on Friday night she appeared happy and had her dinner with her family members. Later, around 11 pm, she went to her room to sleep. At about 5 am, the next day when the family found that Shrivas’ room was still locked from the inside and she had not woken up, they became worried and knocked on the door many a times. Finally. Shrivas’ elder brother broke down the door only to find her hanging from the ceiling.
