After coming to power, the Bharatiya Janata Party-led government vowed to provide the services to the citizens within a stipulated period and moved the Right to Services Act for this purpose.
“We have started a dedicated portal called ‘Aaple Sarkar’ to give the services to the public. At present, 150 services can be availed of online and we plan to have all the 250 services on it by August 15,” Mr Fadnavis said, delivering the inaugural speech at the annual Nasscom India Leadership Forum here. Departments such as home, higher and technical education and energy declared the names of certain services to be that would be given in a maximum period of 30 days.
The chief minister said he felt extending the services to all citizens in a transparent manner was the job of a government and hence, his administration had been making efforts towards implementing the ‘right to service’ for the public. Affirming his support to the tech industry, he said that recently the government had tied up with industry lobby Nasscom to create a start-up warehouse in Maharashtra.
Mr Fadnavis said technology was very important in solving real life problems, and added that the government was deploying it in fighting child malnutrition in the backward Melghat region of Vidarbha in partnership with Microsoft.
“Resources are not infinite and we need technology for sustainability,” he said. Additionally, the key to governance is to make it smart, and usage of technology will help empower democracy in the country, the chief minister added.
