Two of the top technological extravaganzas, Techfest of IIT-B and Technovanza of VJTI, that had kicked off on December 26 in the city came to end on Monday after wowing thousands of visitors through innovative exhibits, lectures, competitions, games and challenges aimed at involving and benefiting both students and visitors. Despite the clash of dates (as both events took place from December 26-28), organisers of both festivals said that they had crossed the anticipated footfall and were happy to cater to people from various age groups.
Speaking about the three days, the respective coordinators of both the events said that it was a wholesome experience and they were able to learn a lot about managing the events and ensure that nothing went amiss. “Managing the festival was a round-the- clock task and though at times it became stressful, the contributions from team members and institute authorities helped tide over difficult times,” said Nikit Gadlinge, the chief media coordinator of Technovanza. Anuraj Gupta, the chief media coordinator of Techfest had a similar view and said, “The teamwork and selfless dedication of all those involved in the festival ensured that the events passed off without any major problem.”
The final day saw the finals of many competitions that were similar at both the events like Robowars, Formula racing, Coding to name a few were held in the evenings. The finals saw competitors not only from the two institutions but other institutions also compete for the top spot, which carried cash awards too. Both events saw some of the top achievers like Dr K. Radhakrishnan, former ISRO chairman; Nobel Laureate Serge Haroche; Robert Mical, director of Games, Google; Jayant Narlikar, developer of conformal gravity theory; Padma Bhushan Bikash Sinha; former IPS officer Kiran Bedi and journalists Harsha and Anita Bhogle interact with students and throw light on their lives and struggles they combated while achieving greatness.
