The Central government railway officers have conducted an inquiry against the two Kurla government railway police (GRP) constables who were seen on CCTV camera assaulting and extorting money from youngsters.

In the CCTV footage of a platform at the Lokmanya Tilak Terminus, it can be clearly seen that the two police officers were checking tickets of the passengers who were waiting for the train. After checking the tickets, they started checking their pockets, bags and mobile phones. When the two were not able to find anything on the passengers that could be termed illegal, they forcefully started taking taking money from their pockets.

The policemen checked at least six to seven youngsters present on the platform in the same manner.

The policemen were not wearing uniform while conducting the check. Public relation officer of GRP Ritesh Ahir said, “We came to know about the act two days ago, and we have found that the constables are attached to the Kurla GRP. They were on their way home after duty when they committed the act. We have started an inquiry against the duo, under deputy police commissioner of central GRP Rupali Ambure. We can’t reveal the names of the officials. Once we complete our inquiry we will take action if needed.”
