2 drug addicts confess to killing woman for money

The MRA Marg police of south Mumbai arrested two men on Monday in connection with a murder case of a woman in her fifties. According to a police official, they arrested the accused and suspect that the woman was robbed.

The arrested accused have been identified as Avinash Pimpalkar alias Raju (22) and Mukesh Muskar (21) both reside on pavements near CST. The duo are drug addicts, said the police, and have confessed their crime.

According to the police officials, on March 24 the dead body of a woman was found lying in a pool of blood on platform number 18 of the CST station. When police officials visited the spot, they found that the face of the deceased was severely injured. A team was formed to investigate the case and CCTV footage from nearby areas were recovered and scanned. At the time of the investigation as many as 140 suspects were picked up from the nearby areas including CST, P’Dmello road and Masjid.

The accused have informed the police officials that they were in need of money and had snatched the bag of the deceased who kept following them while they were running away. Fearing she that would seek help from the police, one of the accused of picked up a stone and smashed it on her face, causing her death.

A police official while talking to The Asian Age said, “The woman has not been identified yet and her body has been sent for post-mortem. We will be able to know the cause of her death after the report is out.”
