The Bombay high court has granted interim bail to two contractors in the 350-crore road repairs scam. Both the accused have gotten interim relief of Rs 1 lakh each.
Justice P.N. Deshmukh was hearing a bail application of road contractors, Jitendra Kikavat of Mahavir infrastructure and Manish Kasliwal from K.R. Construction.
Before moving the HC, the duo had applied for bail in a sessions court but it was rejected.
While arguing the matter, the accused’s lawyer said, “The sessions court had granted bail to the other accused in this case application. And we had co-operated with the police when investigation was underway. So we are also entitled to be granted bail.’’
After hearing the arguments, Justice P.N. Deshmukh accepted the contention and ordered interim bail of Rs 1 lakh each and also ordered the duo to appear before the police between July 20 and 23.
