At least 12 minor inmates of the Nashik Kishore Sudharalaya (correction home) scaled the 30-feet boundary wall and fled at 3.30 am on Monday. The correction home is situated between two busy MSRTC bus stations — Central Bus Stand and Thakkar Bazaar Bus station in the heart of Nashik city. The minors are accused in mostly housebreaking cases. Nine of the escaped boys are from Pune, one from Mumbai and two from Satara district. Earlier, it was reported that the minor accused in Shakti Mills journalist’s murder was among those absconding, but police clarified that he was not among the runaways.

Speaking to The Asian Age, deputy commissioner of police (DCP) Ambika N. said that the boys possibly stood on top of each other to reach the top. Later, they used a bedsheet to climb down from the other side.
