The Mumbai police has arrested one person for allegedly uploading a copy of the movie Udta Punjab on a website identified as allzmovies.in.

The Mumbai police has arrested one person for allegedly uploading a copy of the movie Udta Punjab on a website identified as allzmovies.in. The accused, identified as Dipak Kumar, was arrested in Delhi.

On June 15, the makers of the film, which was created under the banner Phantom Films, approached the cyber police station to register an FIR after a copy of Udta Punjab was leaked before its release. Sources said that nearly 800 websites had uploaded the movie and it had been downloaded as many as 70,000 times from various sites.

Officials said the film was first uploaded via two separate links. “The leaked copy was the first censor copy and had been uploaded on a torrent by a user under the handle robby007,” said a cyber cell officer.

The police also approached internet service providers. “We asked the internet service providers to give us the IP addresses of users and systems that had first uploaded the movie,” he added.

During investigation, officials allegedly realised that a website allzmovies.in had also uploaded the link on its website. The website is said to be based in Delhi and is headed by Kumar. “After tracing him to Delhi, we summoned him to Mumbai at the cyber police station. Interrogation and investigation revealed that he had indeed uploaded the copy and hence we arrested him,” said an officer.
