Mumbai: The Thane police has registered a case of fraud and fabrication of government records against an IAS officer and two other civic officials. The police was acting on the directions of an Ulhasnagar magistrate court.

A former president of a civic body in Thane district had lodged a complaint against the three officials. Senior police inspector B.D. Wagh said an FIR was filed against the trio on July 28.

The direction for registering FIR was issued on July 12. The officer further said that the matter is still under investigation. The matter relates to when the three officers were posted in a civic body in Thane district.

The petitioner alleged that the three officers, during their tenure at the civic body from 2014 to 2016, “misused their official power, and fabricated records and demolished certain civic properties that were in good condition”.
