MUMBAI: The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) announced the results of supplementary examinations of Secondary School Certificate (SSC) on Wednesday. In the Mumbai division, only 4,747 students managed to clear the exam out of 33,397 students who attempted the exam in the month of July. With the pass per cent of 14.21, city’s score is subsequently decreasing as last year it was 17.18 per cent.

“For the supplementary examination the students are given over 30 to 45 days to prepare and moreover unlike the fresh exams, they have only one to two subjects to prepare. If everyone starts doing it properly on the given time, the number of students passing will increase,” said a senior official of MSBSHSE, Mumbai division.

In the year 2016, the pass percentage was 20.32 while in 2017 it decreased to 17.18 per cent. This year, it has dropped even more to 14.21 per cent, a decrease by 2.97 per cent overall. Meanwhile, talking about the entire Maharashtra, a total of 28,645 students managed to clear the supplementary exam out of 1,210,59 who were registered for the re-exam. Mumbai region has the most number of applicants.

State education minister Vinod Tawde congratulated the students who managed to successfully clear the SSC re-exam via Twitter. Furthermore, the students who passed can save their academic year as the admissions for FYJC is still going on.
