Mumbai: Just a few weeks ahead of the state Assembly election, the Cabinet on Wednesday cleared 25 proposals in just one day.

This was the highest number of decisions taken in a single day in the last three years. Last week, the Cabinet had taken 19 decisions.

Sources said the government might hold two to three more Cabinet meetings before the model code of conduct (MCC) is enforced and more popular decisions are expected in these meetings.

The MCC is likely to come into force in mid-September, a senior official said.

Among the decisions taken by the Cabinet, the monthly honorarium received by respected senior litterateurs and artists of the state has been increased by one-and-half times.
