Mumbai: Pruthvi Chavhan, a 17-year-old student of Ryan International School, Vashi, committed suicide in Sanpada after he failed in two subjects in his Class 12 CBSC exams, whose results were announced on Sunday.

The boy, who hung himself from the ceiling fan at home in the afternoon, left behind a suicide note addressed to his parents apologising for his failure. The note said – “Sorry to disappoint you mummy and papa.” The boy was alone at home as his parents were visiting their native place in the Konkan. Pruthvi, who lived in Sanpada Sector 13, Shankar Tower, checked his result online at one of the centres in Vashi, following which he came back home and hung himself.

A Sanpada police official said, “After the results, he met his neighbours and spoke to them, giving no indication of what was going on his mind. According to his friends, he was a cheerful and happy-go-lucky sort of guy.  He was weak in studies and barely managed to pass in exams.”
