Mumbai: Former media baron Peter Mukerjea Friday requested the special Central Bur-eau of Investigation (CBI) court to allow him to speak to his children. He said he wanted to meet them, as he did not know how much longer he would live.

As soon as the court completed recording of evidence Friday, Mr Mukerjea entered the witness box and requested Judge J.C. Jagdale to allow him to speak to his children. He told the court that he did not know how much longer he would live and hence wanted to speak to his children who were living abroad.

Replying to his request, the Judge told him that he should meet them in jail. To this, Mr Mukerjea said that while he had met people related to this case, he had not met the persons close to his heart for the past three years. Following this, the Judge told him that he would workout the modalities.

Mr Mukerjea thanked the Judge for allowing him to visit the hospital for a medical check-up and informed him that all his health parameters were under control. He told the Judge that he would soon submit his medical reports to the court. It may be recalled that Mr Mukerjea underwent bypass surgery at a private hospital in March after he experienced chest pain.
