Marathon runners’ valuables stolen

At the end of the marathon, the runners came back to their parked cars only to find their windows shattered and their electronic devices missing.

According to the Powai police station, where a FIR has been registered by one of the participants, over 10 mobile phones were stolen along with four laptops and chargers.

MUMBAI: The IIT-Bombay half marathon that took place on Sunday, witnessed a gruesome end for participants. At the end of the marathon, the runners came back to their parked cars only to find their windows shattered and their electronic devices missing.

According to the Powai police station, where a FIR has been registered by one of the participants, over 10 mobile phones were stolen along with four laptops and chargers. Apart from these electronic devices, several wallets, bags, clothes, etc too were reported missing by the marathon participants. Reportedly, these items were inside the cars that were parked next to the institute.

“Whoever did this broke the car windows in order to steal all these equipments. By afternoon we got one complaint after which we started the investigation,” said Anil Pophale, senior police inspector of Powai police station.
