Mumbai: A court in suburban Thane has awarded life imprisonment to a man who allegedly stabbed a married woman to death who had spurned him. The murder of the woman had occurred back in 2015 and district judge S.C. Khalipe in a recent order finally convicted the accused, Ramnayan Vishwakarma, under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code and also slapped a fine of Rs 5,000 on him.

Public prosecutor Vandana Jadhav said, “The fine and the life sentence was announced by the court today.” The victim, Radhika Yadav (28), resided in Kudus village with her husband Sitaram and was being harassed by Vishwakarma.Ms Jadhav said, “All the three worked in factories Wada industrial area in Palghar and were acquaintances. Sitaram worked in another factory in the same area.

The accused stabbed Radhika to death while she was alone near Khupri village. Vishwakarma then fled to Azamgarh but was arrested by district police.The court relied on the deposition of Sitaram and the eyewitness account.
