Man arrested for raping 13-yr-old granddaughter
The complainant narrated her ordeal to her uncle when he returned home in the night.
Pune: A 54-year-old man was arrested for allegedly raping his 13-year-old granddaughter at his house in Pune on Sunday. The complainant, along with her uncle, went to the police station to lodge a FIR against her maternal grandfather.
S.T. Landage, police sub-inspector, Dehu Road, police station said, “The 13-year- old girl stays with her maternal grandparents, uncle and aunt. Her parents resides in Mumbai and they have personal as well as financial issues and hence their daughter stays at her grandparent’s house. The girl does not go to school and all in the family work as labour.”
“On February 25, the victim and her grandfather were alone in the house as her uncle, aunt and grandmother went to work. She was sitting in a room when her grandfather locked the door from the inside and then raped her,” Mr Landage added.
The complainant narrated her ordeal to her uncle when he returned home in the night. Then her uncle and her went to the police station and lodged an FIR against her grandfather.
The police arrested the accused on Monday under section 376 of the Indian Penal Code for rape and relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act. The Pune Sessions Court has remanded the accused in police custody till March 3.
