Mumbai: Former Bihar chief minister and fodder case convict Lalu Prasad Yadav (70) has been discharged from Mumbai’s privately-run Asian Heart Hospital. The Jharkhand high court on Friday rejected his request for a three-month bail extension on medical grounds and asked him to surrender by August 30.

Yadav is undergoing treatment for heart-related problems at the aforementioned heart institute. Yadav is under the care of renowned heart surgeon Dr Ramakanta Panda.

While the hospital issued a statement stating that Yadav was discharged on Saturday. Dr Panda had, on August 27, 2014, performed three cardiac procedures on the leader — replacing his aortic valve, repairing an artery and fixing a 3-mm hole in the heart, and Yadav was discharged on September 13, 2014.

Asked about Yadav’s condition, the hospital authority said, “Since this is a case of medical bail, the hospital is not authorised to comment.”
