Mumbai: The 57-year-old director of an Andheri based IB school, who was accused of raping a three-year-old minor girl, has claimed his innocence by putting forth a few points. He claimed that his cabin is on the second floor while the kindergarten class is on the ground floor. The accused also said that his cabin is attached to the staff room with a glass pane, which makes it impossible for him to do anything that he is accused of. The police has also said that since the case came under the public gaze after an FIR was registered, the accused was startled and the cops are making slow moves to earn his confidence to know what exactly happened.

The police sources said that the accused director has claimed that he is completely innocent and the allegations are baseless, as he was never alone in the cabin, as alleged in the complaint registered by the mother of a three-year-old girl in the month of May. The accused has put forth the names of a few teachers who are his eyewitnesses and can verify his story that he did not commit the crime. The accused has also said that if he and the co-accused female teacher had committed such a crime, if not the students, then the teaching or non-teaching staff would have definitely noticed something fishy and reported the matter to the higher authorities.

Navinchandra Reddy, deputy commissioner of police, zone 10 said, “We have questioned the entire staff, both teaching and non-teaching, but none of them observed or saw anything that was out of place. According to our probe, till now, we have not found any clue against the accused director, but we are still questioning him. As of now, four rounds of questioning has been conducted on him, and many more will be done.”

The police also said that they are not rushing to arrest him immediately as it does not have substantial evidence to support the allegations. The police officials said that they primarily do not want to startle the accused director. The police wants to gain the accused person’s confidence, and seek more details from him.
