Mumbai: The air-conditioned train will be easy on the pocket for the common man. Western Railway (WR) has finalised a proposal for fares that will range from Rs 10 to Rs 85. The train will run from Church-gate to Virar and will stop at nine stations. The initial reports had claimed that the fare would touch a maximum of Rs 200-Rs 300.

After years of speculation about the expected fare, the Western Railway has finalised the maximum and minimum fare, keeping the common man in mind.

Senior officials from the WR confirmed that the maximum and minimum fares were finalized by both the Mumbai division and the headquarters at Churchgate, after considering the needs of the commuters. An official said, “The AC train cannot be too expensive but at the same time it cannot be too cheap. We had to look at both the railway’s and the commuter’s needs.”

The stops have also been finalised by the WR.
