Mumbai: The Raj Thackeray-led Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) was once again rejected in the Assembly election.

MNS won just one seat, despite contesting 110 seats this election.

MNS candidate Pramod (Raju) Ratan Patil won from Kalyan rural seat, which was earlier represented by Shiv Sena legislator Subhash Bhoir.

Mr Patil has defeated Shiv Sena’s Ramesh Sukrya Mhatre — who replaced Mr Bhoir — by 7,154 votes.

The Sena candidate bagged 86,773 votes, while Mr Patil secured 93,927 votes.

Moreover, the MNS chief did not speak to the media over his party’s dismal performance in the election.

The MNS had made its poll debut in 2009.
