Woman jumps off 2nd floor, escapes with minor injury

Ruksana Noorani, who hails from Rajasthan, sustained minor leg injuries and is suffering from breathlessness.

Mumbai: A 38-year-old woman jumped from her second-floor residence in Minara Mansion after a fire broke out at around 4.45 am on Wednesday. The woman jumped off the second floor after she saw smoke emanating from all sides. 

After falling on the ground floor, she became unconscious due to the impact but escaped without any major fracture. 

The woman is suffering from chest congestion since she inhaled the smoke and has been kept under observation at the privately-run Noor Hospital.  

Ruksana Noorani, who hails from Rajasthan, sustained minor leg injuries and is suffering from breathlessness. 

Ms Noorani said, “Fire engulfed the floor, and I could not breathe, I heard people shouting, and in that chaos, I jumped from the second floor.” She added, “I became unconsciousness after I fell down. I regained my consciousness after coming to the hospital.” Shahabaz Shaikh (43) a resident of the area said, “There was a short circuit, and people started shouting.”
