BEST creating door-to-door awareness of ‘miBEST’ app

Mumbai: In a bid to promote its application (app) “miBEST”, the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) has been creating door-to-door awareness about the same. The BEST has 10 lakh consumers in the island city and so far, 25,000 consumers are using this app. BEST officials said that looking at the poor response to the app, they had added new features and were running a door-to-door campaign to create awareness about it across housing societies and payment centres.

The app will help consumers avoid queues to make electricity bill payments. To facilitate electricity bill payments by consumers, the undertaking is operating 48 bill collection counters. In addition to this, various branches of leading banks and post offices have been authorised to collect the bills.

BEST officials said that consumers were required to spend a lot of time in queues at payment centres. While there was an electronic clearing system (ECS) facility, most consumers were not using it. There was an online payment option as well but the same needed a computer with an Internet facility.

Explaining the use of the “miBEST” app, Hanumant Gophane, public relations officer, BEST, said, “Once the consumer registers with the app, he is able to see his/her bill on mobile and he/she can pay it and also view the billing and payment history. Thus, consumers can avail this information anytime round-the-clock.” Mr Gophane also said that various features had been added like viewing the last six months’ bills and registering grievances through the app.
