MUMBAI: In a bid to create awareness about trespassing, cleanliness and women’s safety, the Western Railway (WR) has roped in batting legend and Mumbaikar Sachin Tendulkar as the face of  WR. WR had approached him earlier this month and sought his help to stop the menace of trespassing.

While urging passengers to travel safely, his message was, “Tumchya Ghari Koni Vaat Pahat Ahe” which in English means “someone is waiting for you at home”.

Ravinder Bhakar, chief public relations officer, WR, said, “We found him to be the best face for Mumbaikars and approached him, and he agreed to become the face of WR.”

Mr Bhakar said that the special awareness campaign would consist of various short videos and audio recordings of Mr Tendulkar being played on LCD/LED screens across WR for the next few months. The video clips would also be telecast on TV channels and cinema houses while the audio clips would be played at suburban stations, in trains and on leading FM channels.

Additionally, posters displaying these messages would be displayed at prominent locations along the Mumbai division of WR.

In the videos and audio clips, Tendulkar reminisces about his younger days, when he would travel from Bandra to Churchgate for his practice sessions at Wankhede every day along with his friends. He recalls how coach Ramakant Acharekar was very particular about timing, so they would take the same train everyday to be on time for their practice sessions. He also appealed to all commuters to travel safely and avoid trespassing and stunts.
