Mumbai: In a move to make the Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority (MahaRERA) smart, the authorities will soon publish the names of defaulting realtors on their website. The information will be useful to homebuyers as it will give them a background of the offences committed by the developers. Those who may have committed violations under the RERA act, like not mentioning their litigations, would have their names in such a list. The RERA act itself demands this to be made public.

“Till now the website contained details of project permissions and other specifications like area, amenities etc. However, in next few months we are planning to put out the names of defaulting realtors on the website.” said a senior member of MahaRERA. He further added “There are many cases wherein developers have uploaded false information, delayed possession or hidden litigation details. The names of all such offenders will be published.”

Other elements which will be added to facilitate home buyers and maintain their confidence include a GIS (Geographical Information System) website where all projects will be mapped. Through GIS, homebuyers can know the nearest amenity near the residential project.
